Jack has a long history in the real estate field, all with what is now United Country but also when it was United National and before that United Farm Agency. It began in 1969 when he became a broker/partner in the Pratt/Carlin real estate office in Bernardston, MA dba as United Farm Agency.
After two years, United Farm Agency asked Carlin to represent them as a district sales manager in New York and eventually made him a regional vice-president of New York and New England. In that capacity he held real estate broker’s licenses in six states and represented the company in eight.
Eventually he left that post and has been a broker/partner in the United Country/HBE Group, Dolgeville, NY, actively selling property for the last twenty years. Jack specializes in country property, generally because this area of New York is fairly rural and specifically because Jack knows and enjoys this type of property.
As a vice-president he oversaw mostly country offices, and his expertise in handling this type of real estate continued to strengthen. He knows, understands and is entirely familiar with the area he represents for sale and in many cases has had the opportunity to represent the same properties through repeated transactions.
Jack is a graduate of Wentworth Institute, Boston MA with a degree in engineering. He served in the United States Navy as a pilot and navigator of multi-engine planes. His background prior to real estate has always been in the sales field, selling and flying for Beech Aircraft,; managing a boat company; selling and chief pilot for Cudahy Tanning Co.
Jack is married, has had three children and five grandchildren. He continues to enjoy the country by living on a 45 acre farm for the past 40 years where he works his collection of antique John Deere tractors and occasionally finds time to go fishing.
